The Good
So do you like what we've done with the place? This is the des-res that I boasted of a few weeks ago. Actually I can't take much of the credit, Freya had made the place homely before I arrived. Also she is much taller than I am so is much better suited to hanging tinsel in high places.
The Bad
This is our water pump and electricity meter; it's a temperamental piece of kit. At one point it did explode in a plume of acrid, black smoke and we had to bring out an electrician. After keeping us waiting for 3 hours he arrived and looked earnestly at the switch for a good 45 seconds. Then he said something in Hindi which roughly translated as "oh look it's broken". To which we replied in rather colourful English something which roughly translated as "of course it's broken man, look at it! It's being held together with sticking plaster and the prevailing wind!". Anyhow now it's mostly fine and believe it or not this photograph was taken when it was in full working order.
The Ugly
This is our toilet which is functional and even flushes if you've got a spare half an hour to press down on the button. But why does it have a really hideous pastoral scene on the cistern? I have no idea and to be honest I've stopped noticing it now. Maybe it's a postmodern, kitsch and ironic statement about something...but it's probably just really ugly.
